These mouldings, considering their great width are remarkable
for their want of depth: - they are truly given in No 40

[diagram] rolls being cabled. Note the larger cavetto and bevels
the roll goes of course right round the arch at its side in the upper section and the singular oblique
out of the way look of both, from the line x y not being
parallel with wall. Note a b produced would be
the wall line: it corresponds with c d above; d2 is
of course the double dentil of the door.
No 42 Fig 3 D E F are the capital - capital section, and rib of capital
The 10th House leaf section, of the 10th palace, p 12 House book, u. v.
- this seems to me a most precious & early capital.
No 43. Base, drawn real size, with paper against it, * of angle shaft
of house No 11. p 13 u v and note that in this kind
of window, the cusp does not melt into arch, as in ¶Ù²¹²Ô¾±±ð±ô¾±’s
but has an order to itself. It is interesting to compare the
two sections as opposite A & B : the dotted lines being abacus
head in both, and the line b in both marking the moulding
at its fall on abacus.
No 44 Apse of the Church of San Gregorio; with its traceries all worked
San Gregorio with the section A opoosite - at least I cannot be absolutely
certain as it was high above the eye, it might be as B. but
this not likely from the sharpness of the line within the
