[M.40L] [M.40] No No 18 Ca d’Oro Traceries. first story 40 the branching of the tracery (with its central [diagram] which is marked by curved bars in the elevation) and above it ought to have been below, the section of the cusp at d or d2. This cusp is accurately drawn at B. showing its shallow filleting and foliation, through which the shaded section is drawn: the fillet & foliation are each about ¼ of an inch deep: Below B. the ugly pendant is carefully drawn: I strongly suspect a subsequent addition for below the masonry joint x, the work is bad and slovenly. and the same is noticeable in the lower joints of the central arcade, which are assuredly clumsy restorations. at C2 is the cusp of the three pointed and the round 4 foils which is merely filleted and has no trefoil: and the cusp of r s has no fillet even: but is quite plain, D. Not being quite satisfied with the section at A, it is given larger, on the inside, it is the same on both sides, in No 18. fig 2 with measures: Now it is curious that in the larger window, next the arcade, the portion m n o of this section is altered, and instead of being [diagram] it is [diagram] on the inside and [diagram] on the outside: as shown in fig 1 G of No 17. which was from the inside of that window. In fig 1 No 18 is given, in the same way as the tracery of No 17: the most extraordinary tracery of the lateral window on the other side. The sections are identical: the 4 foil much
