                                                                      No 46.  Fig 2.	 These arches are in the little leaning ancient belfry
                                                                      close to post office in the Canal which one traverses so
                                                                      often between it and the Salute:  The cornice of mere up-
                                                                      right and horizontal bricks and the rudeness of the whole,
                                                                      very remarkable:  I could not make out the meaning of the
                                                                      mark which runs along like a stain and conceals the brick-
                                                                      wor[k]k under the cornice.
                                                                      	X	Observe also, the Pilaster fig 1 is now a type of four;
                                                                      This first:  then the house at St Faunti, No 41 where all
                                                                      is exactly the same, with the exception only that the
                                                                      brackets throughout - in archivolt and pil: are smaller;
                                                                      so that there are 5 to the pil instead of three and there
                                                                      is no vile attached shaft x:  The leaves which bind the
                                                                      cable on the pilaster head are also finer and purer at St
                                                                      Fautin:  and the look of the whole earlier and better.
                                                                      The angle shaft of pilaster is all the same - but
                                                                      better andlighter in leafage of capitals.  Archivolt
                                                                      see, same.
                                                                      No 106.	The base with its severe angle leaf real sign Lection of
                                                                      it smaller above [abave].  Note that this San is an early
                                                                      transition capital reversed.  See Houseboo[k]k 2 page 18 1.
