[M.136L] [M.136] Piazzetta de' Leoni. House in. Arch Madonna 136 Observe in case I forget to examine it, a house with five or six Three windows: two ati on the side next the bridge of sighs - forming most beautiful 4th with a2 sec. beside the moat of the the corner of the house. These are sketched in general proportion Arsenal behind the Tana p 30 l G book fig 1 only the upper lines of base in shafts are wrong, all should be carried across at level p. On page 30 the head of the window: capitals & bases are given & sec of plinth below. Observe the Pure Byzantine type of capital merely leaved: and the points of leaves gracefully holding the lower fillet of abacus; while the pil. is simply transitional Af: The shaft heads as usual of one block: cut through into deep shade below the roll. The leaves have one central rib: and as shown at fig 2 have the curling of the inter lobe - or groin developed - but not the curled top. The Archivolt sec. is most rare, fig 3. The other window is the same, but with Ap pils simply Madonna. over Archway at Ponte. On p 31 side of arch with junction of dentils, highly curious: p 31 l a - b. the sections across a b with cusp, perhaps cusp should be a little wider of course in looking up. the back of the moulding b is not seen on p 31. but only the flat space at junction of dentils where the two fillets run into a little creek of level field.
