                                                                      		but the plinth round sarcophagus has, though it is much
                                                                      flatter generally, than the others:  it is cut on same
                                                                      principle and is a valuable example of transition:  The
                                                                      figures on the sarcophagus are in the graceful Pisan man-
                                                                      ner and their drapery up to neck, the double spiral shafts
                                                                      which support the canopy are precisely same as Doges
                                                                      palace tracery, with round ended block fillings - and
                                                                      very beautiful severe spiral leaves at base.
                                                                      		There is much sympathy altogether between the leafage
                                                                      and work of this tomb and that of the windows of D.P.
                                                                      towards bridge of sighs.  The tomb is dated 1336
                                                                      Nameless tomb opposite Duomo.
                                                                      		A Knight in chain mail most rudely carved:  yet not devoid
                                                                      of expression.  Hands lifted in prayer, very hard:  chain
                                                                      mail merely         so:  The capitals which carry canopy
                                                                      are the cloest to police house possible with branched ribs
                                                                      in the curl over, only a little more flow in the lobes;
                                                                      The flat frieze between dentils with a vein leaf tracery
                                                                      instead of the projecting leaf plinth is a most marked
                                                                      feature, of theearly work:  But it is f[p]ast passing into
                                                                      the Duccio manner.
