Houses in Campo St Polo.                                              No 173 174	Merceria. Houses in. St. M. Formosa.	208
The house described on last page 1 is the one nearest grand canal     
on to the right, as one faces them of the two palaces in Campo        Houses in Merceria San Zulian.  Two narrow ones side by
St Polo:  That on the left is far more interesting;  It is to be      		side:  facing Merceria:  The one to the left has on its
classed with Pal. Priuli  It has the cusp cut open;  and the          		first and second floor, a pair of at windows - of which
very fine pure early transition capitals all with flower plinth       		one is drawn at p 17 bit book having a shaft capital
abaci, and the smallest possible dog tooth above side leaf rolls,     		with two real full blown roses:  unique: in finishing it, use
in fact the whole system of decoration as rich as possible, vid       		the Pisani spiral and keep edge of pendent fillets bright.
fig 1 p 81 bit book.  The windows are 5th  with c3                    		Observe the shaft capital is deeper than the pil head - fig
section, and the cusp cut as on fig p 9 bit book; and they            		2 p 18  Make the shaft once and a half the height
have, for circular decoration, late, perhaps 14th  century            		of the arch.  The rose capital is {in} the lower story only
carvings on the Byzantine forms and types:  surrounded some           		the upper pair have the usual florid form:  Other
by small flower plinths within bold dentils;  and  and some by the    		dentils, as well as of upper story, pp 17, 18 bit book
early single dentil within the Venetian.                              		The house on the right has on {both} its first and second story

very fine and early:  with gabled dentil in mouldings;  shield        Campo St	The capital beautifully pure - the angle leaf ridged as it
set aside under finial [?] very quaintly, and                         M. Formosa,	turns;  and the c ch. with an exactly similar little head of
the latter formed of a pin bearded head.                              l.		its own, fig 3.

It This house is at present 1850 the French consulate.                		and there ch. is plain beaded, neither cabled nor capitaled
                                                                      		The upper window is of a form rare in Venice; the contracted
                                                                      		ogee - but is constant in Verona.  The house has a shield
                                                                      		upon it which looks cinque cento his bearing a wheel
